A long time ago, I started using the pseudonym name Vice Versa for the work I was doing in dance, sound design, clothes/costume design, and video. I formed Company Vice Versa in 2011 to umbrella my independent creative work and collaborations.
2014, I completed a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Dance&Choreography at York University, focusing my research on “physical states of embodiment and their impact on the performer”. I continued to work on this, mainly through creative in-studio research and teaching. I made a workshop called “Proposal to Piece” that was the product of a Canada Council Research Grant. Toronto Dance Community Love-In hosted me in teaching a workshop called “Tune In to Push Out” as part of their Summer Intensive Program 2018. Composer, Paul Shepherd scored the class and we made a video by the same name.
I’m fortunate to have worked with lots of folks! Jeanine Durning, Allison Cummings, Joanna Kotze, Diane Borsato, Jenn Goodwin, The Dietrich Group (DA Hoskins), Ame Henderson, Brendan Jensen, Kate Franklin, Amanda Acorn, Tedd Robinson, James Kudelka, Christopher House, ProArteDanza, Guillaume Coté, Matjash Mrozewski, Adam Paolozza, Serge Bennethan, and others.
Under the Artistic Direction of Christopher House, I worked for/with Toronto Dance Theatre from 1999-2009 and again in 2011 and 2014-present as a guest artist. The company dancers have become my family. Now under the Artistic Direction of Andrew Tay, I continue to be a part of TDT in projects such as The Co-Conspirators Project and Pilot Episodes. More information can be found at http://www.tdt.org.
I’m the Secretary for the Board of Directors for CADA-east. I’m the Dance Ontario Regional Rep for my hometown of Sault Ste. Marie.
